Greater than the sum of its parts

Collaborations have become the choice for artists interested in sustainability when it comes to creative expression, experimentation and growth.

Many artists are gaining access to liked minded souls via the internet and joining forces to bring new forms of art and creative expression. Sound Butter and Vasco Alvo are one such combination, as are floebee (aka Shari Baker) and Mark Valentine (Mark Valentine Sullivan). Their collaboration blossomed on flickr through several joint exhibitions: blurring boundaries explores concepts of identity and the blurring of boundaries, silent dialogue at artCafe, a beeval collaboration, explores how a visual relationship may be enhanced when two separate, yet connected images are brought together in a series of paired compositions. Their collaboration grew and steadily developed over two years, gradually branching out into other external experimental works such as slip in time... a nine screen video and audio installation at Temple Works, UK, as part of the Leeds Light Night Festival, October 9th, 2009. The enquiry began with the question: What secrets a building might tell, if only we spoke the same language.
